A night of empowerment and inspiration at Women @ AWS Meet Up

I had the privilege of participating in a remarkable event last night, organized by Amazon Web Services (AWS) Greece, the fantastic Natasa Intzoglou , and the brilliant AWS ladies. A night of Empowerment and Inspiration. Filled with thought-provoking conversations about the significant role of women in tech and the current situation for women in Greece.

I want to call out here my observations from the audience vibes.

1. Tech Meetup Culture in Greece: Having experienced the vibrant tech meetup scene in Dublin, it's heartening to see a similar culture developing here in Greece. The growth of tech meetups and communities in our country reflects the dedication and passion of our local tech enthusiasts.

2. Male Allies: It was encouraging to see numerous male allies attending the meetup, actively seeking ways to support and contribute to our goals. Their presence underscores the importance of unity and inclusivity in our journey towards equality. Together, we can create a more diverse and thriving tech community.

3. HR Engagement: I had the pleasure of conversing with an HR leader who shared his concerns about the shortage of female talent in the candidate pools. He was genuinely interested in finding solutions to bridge this gap. In response, I firmly believe that the answer lies within events like these. HR professionals, please consider attending events or collaborating with tech communities to discover female tech talent. The pool of exceptional candidates is right here, ready to be tapped into. Additionally, universities and partnerships with academic institutions can serve as valuable resources to identify and nurture female tech talent.
